Re: The Bride of the Emperor Storyline Tournament - Crane Bo

Nah, that's not the Crane way. The Crane way would be to put one of someone else's on the Throne, marry them to a Crane, see their children educated by Crane, and handle all bureaucratic and political matters in their name. We are the Left Hand of the Emperor/Empress, after all, not the Emperor/Empr...

Re: The Bride of the Emperor Storyline Tournament - Crane Bo

Looks like Seiken's reign will be as comedic as his earlier life. One can say this for the man, at least: he's working overtime to ensure that the collapse of his reign come Onyx is entirely plausible.

Re: Spring 2015 Kotei Fiction - Parts 1 and 2

Muh Lion Crane alliance! Console me, Tacticus! Fun reads, all in all. At least your darling Chizu-chan is outraged at the stupidity of her vassals for being deceived by the forgery? And indignant at the idea of taking time away from killing Scorpion? Some sort of diplomacy ought to be possible here...

Re: Crane Clan Letter

I realise that establishing those two characters in the course of the same 500-word piece that killed them off would have been impossible. But was it necessary to kill them off in this letter? Could it not have waited until a later story, to be covered properly? Even a brief coverage to establish th...

Re: Crane Clan Letter

And now, it seems, it's time for me to be negative again :( The good first, I suppose. I enjoyed Shinichi's letter - it was frivolous, and the man himself remains a prat, but he was entertaining about it, and chose a good target for it. We talked a while back about Tony Stark as an example of a &quo...

Re: [S:CW] Doji Hoturi, Seven Thunder • Experienced 2CW

He bears a certain similarity to the original printing of Doji Makoto, except even better at duelling and without the political ability. He doesn't particularly resemble the current printing of Makoto, except insofar as he's a Crane Champion and is therefore a Duelist Courtier with 6 Chi. The Onyx p...

All AEG mentions of a time-jump have placed it immediately following Onyx. Little else is clear regarding it.

Re: [S:CW] Doji Hoturi, Seven Thunder • Experienced 2CW

I'm not counting Makoto personally since he won't be legal in Onyx, but it appears that Crane dueling will be nothing to scoff at. I for one hope that we will get another version of Makoto in Onyx, it would be a shame if you wouldn't have the current clan champion as a legal card. Agreed. I think t...

Re: [S:CW] Doji Hoturi, Seven Thunder • Experienced 2CW

Huh. Interesting. Reviewing the art for his various cards, you are quite correct - in fact, he doesn't seem to have ever been depicted with a katana in hand. It makes sense - the katana was historically a sidearm (and symbol) for samurai, not a primary battle weapon. And reach is a very nice thing t...

Re: [S:CW] Doji Hoturi, Seven Thunder • Experienced 2CW

A question for those familiar with the Clan Wars-era stories: was Hoturi particularly known for using a naginata? I find its presence in his art to be interesting, and unexpected, given that I primarily thought of him as a iaijutsu master (which is to say, katana-wielder).
