You know what's bugging me? The Spider Path is the exact same extra treat they had been given when they competed with us about the heir. The exact same choice. Great Clan or Horde. Are they going to make the poor Spider community decide on that every five years or so (choose now between good and evil, it's elections season!), or are they just doing it until they decide to revert back to the Horde?

Meanwhile, the clans that haven't gotten a Path last time still don't know what's in store for them - and presumably the marketing apparatus is geared solely towards the Kanpeki thing anyway. AEG land has always had this deep divorce between the clans they allow to change (just look at the clans that have gained families in the RPG since first edition) and the clans that are meant to embody the status quo. The Crane fall in the latter category*. And predictably, every time there's a big change, they focus on the former.

The Crane Clan represents what is good, pure and honorable about Rokugan. To throw in with a traitor to the Emperor like Kanpeki is abhorrent and unthinkable.

They are our polar opposite, even more so then the Crab, who at least have their Duty.

Under no circumstances should we work with them.
