I'm not sure how to feel about all of this. If Rokugan is going to become Thunderdome Rokugan, then where do we fit in? We'll have to see about what options are presented to the player base.

Well, honestly. How much worse can Emperor Kanpeki be than Emperor Seiken? Kanpeki hasn't thrown any public tantrums that I know of, or publicly denied denied a Great Clan their divinely-appointed status. Which puts him ahead on several counts already.

Yeah, not much use for a Crane Clan in this storyline. We might lose our courtiers for good and not even notice.
