I am definitely up for fiction involving Ikura. I want to know what makes him tick.

Re: What's To Come
Hi, Spider here.
There are basically two groups in the Spider camp representing the choices AEG supplied, with a third group bridging the gap.
One group wants to be competitive again in the CCG and see the "Embracing the Darkness" option as the only real way to do so. They fear that the "Walking in the Light" option will water the flavor and power of the clan down even more than becoming a great clan did, basically ripping the legs off of the Spider clan completely. Because of this fear of, a number want to go back to it being Shadowlands Horde. Others want to go back to being the Spider clan of Celestial before the great clan thing happened. Most are tired of being stepped on and treated like third rate members of the Empire. Whatever the reason, a lot of members, if given only the two choices, would go for "Embracing the Darkness" because they are tired of being fang-less.
The second group prefers the "Walking in the Light" option because a lot of work has gone into getting Spider clan to be a great clan, both CCG wise and RPG/Wintercourt wise. They like the flavor of the Spider clan and fear that going dark will mean becoming members of a mindless horde, which would likely prevent them from being Spider at RPG events because of the loss of great clan status. They also do not like the idea of setting the Empire on fire, they would rather play with the rest of the kids. A number also don't like the Shadowland monsters as a part of the clan. This group wants to stay relevant in the eyes of the Empire, keeping great clan status and being a working cog in the Empire.
The third group is really basically voting to "Embrace the Darkness", but in a darkly honorable fashion under the "Shourido Above All" third option that players have come up with (there are quite a few third options, to be clear). This seems to be the most popular third option at the moment, and is the second most popular option at the writing of this post, "Embrace the Darkness" having the most forum member votes. They don't want to see the Empire burn, but they want to change it and rule over it like grandfather darkness for a good period of time, but setting fire to it might be the only way to get it started. They want to create an Obsidian Empire for Kanpeki to rule over, but by working with other clans, rather than just overrunning them with waves of undead and oni. This would, in theory, keep most players happy. CCG players could have their taint, and RPG players could have their cake...in theory.
A lot of the tension you are seeing on the boards is related to the fact that there are a TON of Spider & Horde players from the past ten years coming out of the woodwork, and everyone has their own opinions. We even had the AEG fellow responsible for the creation of the Spider clan post a few days ago, recommending we "Embrace the Darkness." What it really comes down to, is that no player wants to see Spider clan become something they won't want to be a part of, and the two very different choices AEG supplied pretty much guarantee that for at least some of the players.

Re: What's To Come
For those not following the Spider boards, "the AEG fellow" in question is Todd Rowland. You also had the Brand Manager who first came up with something like the "Great Clan or Horde" option ... except he intended it to be essentially something like the choice that is offered now: be the Jigoku faction, or reject Jigoku to join the Empire. To me, a real shame that they didn't do it at the time, because what he wanted to do (have a pure Fu Leng get a Clan) is pretty much exactly the way I thought they could make the Spider work. Oh well.
The "Shourido Above All" contingent seems to have a lot of support based on misunderstanding the Embrace the Darkness option - for example, not seeming to realize that Embrace the Darkness doesn't mean losing humans. Or, as Blindfish kind of implies, people who basically take "Shourido Above All" to mean "Embrace the Darkness," except magically our reign lasts longer and/or we get to still be a Great Clan afterwards. Realistically, IMHO, the significance of "Shourido Above All" is to convey that people like having evil humans, not just Oni. I'm pretty sure AEG was already aware of that, but if they weren't they are now.
At the end of the day, when/if forced to choose between Jigoku and being a Great Clan (which is essentially the choice being presented now), the Spider playerbase is going to choose Jigoku. Which makes sense, really, because that's the central idea of the faction.

Re: What's To Come
When you say you want Harriers again, what do you mean specifically?
Be as detailed as you can please.
Also, for Makoto, not changed so much as developing as a character. Growing.

I think explosives is THE key element of the Harriers. Yes, we as players know it's dishonorable. It's coolness very much outweighs that. Yes, the old-school Harriers like Uji knew it was dishonorable. It's effectiveness in protecting the clan outweighed that.

Mechanically speaking, how do you see them?
And is explosives required? Can Harriers exist sans pew pew boom?
