Re: Other Clans' PATHs
The Phoenix also suffer from an interesting split where a lot the longtime CCG players love corruption stories, but all the RPG players are pacifists who think avoiding conflict is "winning."

Re: Other Clans' PATHs
Given that the Phoenix are a pacifistic Clan? Well, yes, playing Phoenix characters as considering non-conflict a winning goal seems only sensible.

Re: Other Clans' PATHs
I note that my initial proposal of being the Clan allowing other Clans to succeed on their path could mesh well with at least 2 of the Phoenix options. Just like the Dragon and Unicorn, the choices for Phoenix include two ways of sending teams around the Empire to search stuff (the seals, for instance). Once again, this is something which we, as the wealthy cultivated political Clan defending "law and order", could support actively. I am more and more interested to see if our Paths will allow us to create such an Alliance of the North-West, dedicated to preservation of Rokugani culture and laws (Crane), population (Unicorn), religion (Dragon) and magic (Phoenix). If not, I would totally get behind and support creating our own path in this way. And what a wonderful source of interactions for the RPG: I can see groups of players wandering the suddenly hyper dangerous Rokugan on missions to safeguard what's left to be saved, with a Dragon monk, a Phoenix Sugenja, a Unicorn maiden or caravaneer and a Crane duelist or magistrate. Of course, with the economic back up of the Crane wealth and, why not, some Mantis support as well, at least temporarily?

Re: Other Clans' PATHs
As a CCG player, trying to play nice with EVERYONE sounds miserably boring. I'll play nice with all but one other clan as long as that one other clan is an ENEMY. And enemy with active conflict.

Looks like the Jigoku-Spiders and their potential allies are a wonderful such enemy, no? Even from a CCG perspective...

Re: Other Clans' PATHs
Less so if the entire empire decides to go against them. We've seen that story before. It's going to start getting stale. Either some clans need to side with the Spider, or the Crane need an actual Clan enemy.

Re: Other Clans' PATHs
The Crane have never been presented as an enemy of the Spider. Not a friend of the Shadowland Taint (even though Dare is tirelessly working on it), but an enemy of the Spider they have never been. Some might argue that there's a faction among the Crane that has either been a mark or a covert ally of the Spider - or something in between. So a lot hinges on the path the Spider should choose.
