Let me know how the dyeing goes.

Wow, so lame, this guy is wearing flip flops... lol

Just a note, there was several plans with that outfit that never got finished. One was footwear. We had this spray on shoe stuff.. it didn't work out. So at Gencon we had to improvise. Those are actually Zori that I'm wearing, but according to the story team at the time, it might be something with animal skins only if it was lined with silks. (Samurai don't touch dead things)
I was also supposed to have a full Samurai helmet, but again, time was against us. The beak and knee pads were sculpted.
The beak was supposed to look over-the-top on purpose. On the battlefield it was meant to slightly distract the opponent from their duty to fight.
Also, I was holding a No/O-Dachi. Not the typical weapon for a Crane Samurai, but Yoshi likes to have every advantage. Being able to have reach on most opponents is a large advantage. Being Crane meant I could afford it.

A collapsible one will probably get through.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Probably painted PVC pipe? But wouldn't that get extra scrutiny from security, too? "What's this guy doing transporting PVC...?" I suppose as long as I don't have any explosive materials...

So I've been debating getting an older kimono and dyeing the silk the color that I want. So I went looking and found this

Interesting but I wonder if it will make the hakama hard bc of the glue.

The glue washes out when the dying is done.

How did you do the armor? What was it made of? I was debating doing a crab in armor with implanted Jade lights, and trying to figure out how much work it will be.

For DragonCon, My friends and I did L5R themed Jedi. The L5R theme was... subtle, but I have a crane themed lightsaber. I'll post a pic of it when I can get chance.

I now have a beautiful pair of pale blue hakama thanks to Rit Dye (aquamarine). The color is lovely, though I'm debating dip-dying the bottom. I want them to dry and try on the outfit again and see if it needs it.
