Maybe this is an individual not a clan thing, it is on a personality not a SH/sensei. If the Crane are Traditionalist, then why would we get benefits for being as we always were?
Look at it like, this is an individual who is not in keeping with the traditional Crane, and hence theres a benefit for taking a risk on such a personality.

Or you can forget trying to combo him down to 7G and just ignore the allegiance cards.
To be honest at 8G with 5C and 3PH and a solid ability I will at least consider him for my decks.
