Re: [ALitS] Colonial Market (Holding)
Ivoery-legal Ports: Coastal Lane, Colonial Harbor, Deep Harbor, Kobune Port, Merchant Atoll
Very few decks are or can reliably run the holdover 6/5s, and you'd be daft to try to run this and them in the same deck. So Colonial and Merchant are out of the running. Coastal Lane is interesting, but reduced deck consistency runs counter to what's needed to make this go. Kobune Port means you're playing Mantis. Deep Harbor means you're not running Bookkeeper. That's a pretty narrow window for a Mantis gold scheme to capitalize on this, especially when Mantis has some pretty solid gold schemes already.
And, of course, to see the benefit of this card, you not only have to have a Port first, but you have to have cards in play with costed effects to spend the freebie 1G on. Those do exist, and Mantis does have some of them, but why would you bother with so many moving pieces needing to be in the right order for this? Get this first? It's a 5/3 Holding, and that's awful. Get the Port but not the costed effect? It's a Kharmic 3/3; if you think those are good (and aren't playing Strict, I suppose) run Traveling Merchant.
Not good.

Re: [ALitS] Colonial Market (Holding)
Considering that we have only seen two of the cards in the Market/Port scheme and that in effect this is a 3:4 saying its bad may be a bit premature.

Re: [ALitS] Colonial Market (Holding)
Well, Contested Market makes this better, but I'm not sure I'm convinced. As it stands now this is a Mantis toy, with Kobune Port and Contested Market to support the theme, and the SH cash bailout to save you from total economic devastation if the cards come out in the wrong order.
On the other hand, Mantis is reliably playing an ultra-fast corrupt gold scheme for their dominant deck a the moment, and I'm not sure this offers enough to tempt them away from that. What I expressly hope doesn't happen is for Mantis to get a personality or two with a strong economic denial feature. Gold screw is rough in this edition, and a couple of these powering a Contested Market, and maybe another Contested Market, and maybe Frost Dragon ... and you're not going to have a good day, especially if you didn't get optimal money early as well.
