In the current environment, pretty much any penalty to Gold Production makes me think a Sensei is unplayable (except for Mahatsu, but even then it's painful). I would much rather have seen a PS penalty.

Exactly what Ryushi said. The Personality base is so cheap that you can easily get a horde of Courtiers in play for Clout tokens and chump blocking.

The sensei has 2 Family honor. It actually now goes first against a few clans, provided Crab run aranai and mantis loses the coin flip.

Also just having cheap dudes doesn't mean much, particularly when they proclaim for 1-2 barring you play Kuroko and/or Takuan once Kuroko is out.

The wait and see game is on for more clout support for spider or if clout tokens become a multi clan thing.

Going before those decks will actually be a negative - This will get crushed by Mantis with their extra gold vs. your weakened economy, loss of the Dynasty flip and the SH no longer being Tireless.

Honestly it should of just said "You only require 38 honour to win" as going first will just kill them.
