I'm a little irked that Spider and Lion have duelling senseis and we don't.

Also a little bit irked that most of the other senseis actually have actions. But 1 honour EVERY time we bow/destroy something (dishonourable) coupled with a blanket force bonus is exactly the sort of Crane I enjoy playing :)

I dont know about that. Our best way of dishonoring people right now is by dueling them. Sanctioned Duel, Way of the Crane. We are losing Iaijutsu Dojo and Demonstrating technique, which my current magistrate build uses, but one can hope we get decent replacements.

This sensei is already a big contender in my magistrate dueling deck if Extended format becomes a thing.
If you're having Crane problems I feel bad for you son,
I've got 99 problems but a duel ain't one!

This sensei isn't exclusive to duelling though, nor does it HELP duelling in the way that the Scorpion, Lion and Spider ones do.

Like I said I like the Sensei. I don't like how boring it is though, when you compare the Spider/Lion/Scorpion ones which have way more of a "cool" factor.

EDIT: Just to elaborate a bit more, the more clans have access to (and use) a viable duelling theme, the weaker our duelling theme becomes. The natural meta to a duelling deck is a duelling deck, because then the first player to have to start initiating duels is normally the one losing.

Well...We still have Tadanobu Sensei?

Which is kinda my point. I think it would be way easier to build a dueling deck with Hakuseki than with Tadanobu. I dont think a card need to explicitly say "Dueling Yo!" for it to be a dueling card. A popular character, no SH penalties, blanket force pump and repeatable honor gain, all as a trait? I dont know how much more "cool" you need.

Also, I Love the idea of other decks getting a duel theme. Especially ones that are doing different approaches. The more people have access to dueling, the I think people will warm up to the idea and we will hear less "OMG, Dueling is dumb, let keep nerfing it so that it is little more than Chi-on-Chi bow effect". I have always loved facing another dueling deck in a kotei. A fun little meta-game appears where we are both thinking about all the possible dueling angles and averaging FVs.

More dueling, I say!

The first person forced into initiating a duel in a duel vs duel match is losing and forced to resort to what's most likely a 50/50 chance. You beat duelling mirrors by having more non duelling than they do. You want to win by constructing a better deck and outplaying them, not because you won a coinflip on focus values.

As there are only 4 printed Magistrates at the moment, I hope a bunch are forthcoming.
Bushi. Artisan. Duelist. Magistrate. Hatamoto.

If they reedit Doukohito, it would be just great... or dumb... but I would love it anyway, he's my All Times Superstar!

We'll have Kakita Ujirou at the same time.

I want a courtier sensei, that's what Crane do, Suikihime is just not good.. This sensei is interesting, but not really necesarry, I mean we've Tadanobu alredy and he's cool, even a scout sensei could have been better.
