They can't seppuku it anyways, even playing after a sendhome, as it doesn't target any of their personalities.

Exactly, so why would you ever not play SND?

There could be reasons... A smart opponent won't send any dishonorable personality to battle, and if you do not have some battle-dishonor tech, there's a chance it'd be a dead card.

Thanks for doing the catch up Nina, great to see how things we've seen previously have evolved and also see the whole spectrum.

You say that you think the Crane deck shouldn't exist - I can't see a comment on the other thread, so do you think that the recent errata a) make it into a deck that runs reasonably within the current PotD environment and is now ok to exist, and b) if this errata does reign the deck in, do you think it will still have a chance against your Twenty Below Zero deck?

I'd enjoy seeing an update to the Scorp Dishonor (if it includes any of the new cards).

You don't play snd because you like to win your games against honor, or at least have dominating board position after 45 minutes. Snd is worthless in that match or in a match against swarm where they leave their dishonored prople at home or have seppuku'd them.  Dishonor after th will be VERY different. Way more of a control deck that wins by military.

Hello everyone.  Sorry I haven’t replied to your questions/PMs recently, I’ve been pretty sick with the winter weather and all.  I just haven’t had time for much aside from reading posts and previews.  I’m also busy working on an article about Burn the Village and its potential impact on the game as we know it.

I’m posting here to issue a correction from my last article.  In the last decklist (The Magnificent Seven), I said that the deck presented was probably a lot like the deck Ralph Tropeano piloted at the Mass Charity event.  Ralph has since contacted me to say that not only does his deck differ significantly from the deck posted but it was actually build by someone else.  While it’s not relevant to the article itself I felt it was important to mention it here.  Just for clarities sake more than anything else.  I still stand by what I said about the deck, it just isn’t as close to the one Ralph was playing as I thought.

Finally, I actually *DO* have all the Temptations in stock now at our online store.  Christmas mailing can be a huge drag and they took a little longer to arrive than I anticipated.  Click on the link at the bottom of my signature to find the store.
Thanks for your patience and understanding guys, hopefully I’ll be well and back writing in a week or so.

That's really hard to say.  While I was not fond of how Crane Hybrid Rocket decks played I can't honestly say Scorpion isn't also incredibly strong.  Some of the cards they've got this set seem incredibly scary while I can't say Crane has impressed me much at all so far.

I am for the errata to Forging the Gift because Forging was a rather silly card in the context of the environment but I'm afraid it will obviously weaken Crane against other top tier decks (Lion, Scorpion afaict post TH based on what I've seen so far).

Only testing will say for sure and Enough Talk is still a VERY powerful weapon for Crane in the match, but right now I'd say the combination of the errata and the pure gravy Scorpion got in this new set makes them the favorite against Crane.  Just probably takes more than 45 mins to accomplish.

See I just see no basis for this at all.

Sure it was silly in Path, but we are talking about errata for TH. That errata was unnecessary. Especially with what's coming out. In addition to lowering the honor gain, it also lowered a subtheme of Crane to near nothingness. In fact, we'd really only use Artisans because the cards standalone are useful and not in synergy.

Anyhow, regardless, I'm still very glad for your posts Nina, I do like to see the decks and thoughts on playstyles. Thanks for doing this.

Concerning the BotD deck, sub out Forging the Gift for Enough Talk or Imperial Adjudication? I wonder how that will work... I've played the deck and I can count the number of times in one hand I've actually used it. It went on fast enough though.

Ronery Island 1.5: I'm concerned by the lack of Insight in this deck, given how absolutely nutty it is as a combat trick.  I would probably make the change of -3 Wandering Scout +3 Insight, though it's very possible to whiff on your own deck the ability to hit on your opponent's is invaluable, especially in what are currently it's bad matchups.  I think this is actually one of the rare cases of a card swap due to shoring up bad matchups at the slight cost of your good matchups.  I'd also like to see a way to put in RotV for hand replenishment though Taoist and Toshigoku from the grave are pretty nutty as well.  This deck should be better than it is.

Old Crow: As always I have 2 issues here. 1 is -1 MFS +1 Seiden Sanzo.  The second is 2x Dance of the Winds, as I'd rather see either Ring of Air + Ring of Earth or 2x Shameful Injury in it's place.  I think either choice is significantly better against the matchups that you are likely to need them.

EFD: I'm not commenting here as new set both kills and resurrects this deck.  How delightfully ironic.

Tilting Windmills: Nina, I often value your opinion, however I have piloted iterations of this deck since PotD came out (which is when I thought Enlightenment would actually become something approaching viable) and honestly, I love it but it's not a real deck.  If it's tier 2, that's a generous opinion.  It is at best a midrange deck (read: a deck that cannot win tournaments) with an alternate win condition: enlightenment.  Unfortunately any time the format is strong, Enlightenment tends to be less strong than the rest as any cure that works on any top tier deck also works against enlightenment.  The only advantage it has is that it's a win-anytime deck that doesn't care about tempo and has a completely invisible secondary clock, but that clock is very difficult to advance of your own free will.  Unfortunately without that win condition being consistent/viable, it becomes a deck that beats poorly played control decks, and more than a few aggro decks.  If we had Banish All Shadows, and maybe an enlightenment holding, it might be more viable, but until then given the current wording of the rings and the limited Limited search support, I think this one is waiting until the next edition after Celestial.  That is, barring nutty harbinger releases.  Like Banish Every Shadow That Ever Existed.  Ever.

Twenty Below Zero: I was actually running a slightly jankier 2-of package of a few of your fate cards, RtG instead of Outer Walls, Game of Sincerity 2-of, Deflection in as a 2-of, and a card I can't believe isn't in your deck, Ambush as a 2-of.  The combos with Jutsushi, The Direct Approach and Veiled Menace are just silly, as well as the ability to bring yourself far enough down to use UI late game even sans-fosuta is just phenomenal.

Gobonomics: This deck frightens me.  I still haven't piloted a good version of it, but I know it exists, and this may be it.

Soup Nazi: I like Ambush, Deflection, Sneak Attack and RTG in this deck where you like Oni Daikyu, Unpredictable Strategy and Ring of Fire.  I'd love to use Unpredictable, but I don't own any.  Boo.  I also greatly enjoy Oni no Akuma in this deck specifically in concurrence with Ambush.  Oh, and Walking the Way.  That's just me.  I also don't like Shukku, but I can see his value; he seems too much like a midgame/midrange battle card for this control deck.  I'll test with him in my current version and see if he outpreforms my changes.  Otherwise I really love this deck, I think that properly piloted it can beat any deck in the format, much like old school M:TG control decks did.  I think it's absolute worst matchup is either the mirror or dishonor which properly played against neither is an auto-loss.  Dishonor is primarily weak against limited kill which this deck has in spades, and it has the ability to take multiple provinces very quickly, usually on the same turn.

I'll PM you some of my current decklists so we can compare notes, and as always an amazing article that will probably still be somewhat relevant post-TH
