In facebook came a mesage from l5r and read this:

Seven Folds Palace
Political Open: Choose your performing Personality with 1 Personal Honor or higher: Take the Imperial Favor.

What is "your performing personality"?

There were probably questions about whether or not the personality targeted by the stronghold was the performer of the action. Important for cards like Enough Talk!, which reacts to political actions but only ones that come from personalities. Although I don't know likelihood of an official errata on the subject, because the wording on the stronghold was already pretty clear on the subject.

It's part of their new program of explicitly stating who performs an action, as opposed to the old "if the personality is targeted in the constraints block" rule (which also still exists, but will now be explicitly stated on the cards).

Eh, I hope not.  It makes the text look very clunky and it seems like more people have a problem with required targeting than with figuring out who performs an action.

I don't believe that adding one simple word is going to clunk up the text.

As one who dabbles in graphic design, let me say that one could be amazed at how easily the inclusion of one word can completely "clunk up" a block of text.

Of course, I'd be more concerned with AEG straightening up their card text with the template. Has anyone else noticed this with some of the newer cards? There's so much needless space at the top of the text blocks, and when the text bleeds into the shaded portion at the bottom of the text box, it makes the text appear longer and more complicated than it really is.

You want more negative space at the bottom of a text box than at the top, as a general rule.

As with all rules, players will have to consult a rulebook.

With performing now printed on the card, it makes the ability reading sound more like a law book than a card game. In addition, knowledgeable players already don't have a problem with those rules, and new players have more than enough to remember when they start:

Dynasty, Fate, # of provinces, phases, force, chi, gold cost, family honor, bowing for payment, honor requirements, payment reduction, paying for full, regions, events, attacking, lobbying, buying near the end of the turn, attachments, battlefields, targeting, etc.

For me, this only helps to figure out if someone is involved in an honor loss, but then again, I already knew the performing rules.

So for me, this makes an already questionable to play game even more sketchy, it makes the action read like a descriptive essay.

And the only true benefit is to help some poor rules lawyer that sits on the side bench weeping all day about the performance of an action. I find this odd since most products are generally made for the customer. Of course, this is all my opinion.
