YOJIMBOS! I can feel them over the horizon, RA Yojimbo's like:

http://l5rsearch.com/db/search.cgi?cmd=detail&card_id=7564

Omnomnom, shuggies never felt so right as an honor deck. Also, they never said anything about the shuggies not producing nemeranai. Medalliah, you could run some shadowlands cards, plenty of stuff makes shuggies oni's (this arc at least).

Seems the DT's creativity towards Spider is limited too... maybe crane will only get honor (I know they said otherwise and we should expect otherwise)

It would be funny if Taoist archer became a staple of a crane honor deck next arc.
I wonder how Crane will use spells? Use air spells to strengthen their defenses. Limited control and province strength boost spells?
Every clan gets at least 2 victory conditions, so quit your ... Houhou slap.
I bet that Crane gets a solid honor deck, a solid dishonor deck, and a solid military deck.

Super curious will Crane get to play with the Mantis Honor spells.
Summon up some Kitsune to protect the temples of the Crane.

This is a cool theme... double houhou slap.

Meh, I'll play it if it's good, but I'm a Daidoji at heart.

I'd be more excited if I knew that Temple to Shinsei and Touch of Ice were going to be in EE too.

Also, reset poll. Please vote again.

I prefer military to honor running, but I think that it will be a big deal that you get 3 clan with a honor shugenja as a theme (Mantis, Crane, Phoenix). That is assuming that Phoenix gets that theme back. The Mantis and Crane sound a lot more interactive than Shrine of Champions, which I don't like.
Crosses fingers that Crane get a solid Kakita and Daidoji Military.

I think being scarce is the best thing for the Asahina. With I think 2 exceptions I can recall offhand, nonunique Asahina are usually average to terrible. This is the first arc I can recall where every Asahina has been good.

Can't wait to see some EE Asahina. I wonder how a magistrate/shugenja hybrid honor deck might play out.

Erm... seems a little expected, I hope it is cool, I'm glad Crane get shugenja love again, but I don't want it to be honor only. The honor victory is my least favorite out of the four (main) ones.

Edit: Hopefully this opens up a competitive enlightenment option finally, because that is what I'll be trying.

What they don't show is due to the pacifistic nature of the asahina, those arrows have a big boxing glove on 'em ;D

Honor Running? :P

When all the previews so far have shown clans with win conditions not normally associated with that clan, we get honor running?

Sorely disappointed.

Wait. What?

Spider have...a military win conditon theme. The Goju have been done before, just not recently.
Mantis have...a military win conditon theme. The Kitsune mysticism has been done before, just not recently.
Phoenix have...a military win conditon theme. The Henshin have been done before, but in more of a support capacity than major theme.

Crab are the only ones who have something relatively new for an associated win condition with a dishonor theme.

So far, all these themes fall under the "not normally associated with that clan" category.

I hope that the theme relies heavily on attrition. If it's a defensive honor running deck, i hope that the bushi portion all come with Battle actions. I don't care if they only work on the defense, as long as Crane won't have the same amount of blank personalities as it did with CE.

I personally think this sounds cool.

So, boohoo, it's an honor-bent theme, but come on, it's not everyday Crane has gotten that much dedicated to their shugenja. :P  I think this can be good.

I have this weird feeling the asahina will be supporting in this theme, although it is an "Asahina theme". Prolly lots of Daidoji/ Kakita with backside support from the shuggies.

Either which way it'll be interesting.

I'm very pleased the asahina come back.  After seeing mantis get honor based shuggies, I anticipated we would also get honor based shuggies.

Well now hang on, I said it seems like it will be honor running. It may in fact be completely military in nature.
No it didn't.  It said:
Quote
The Protectors of the Temples deck is an honor theme.
That is very specific.  Its not going to be military, its not going to be enlightenment, its not going to be dishonor, its going to be honor.  It didn't even say, "its going to be honor through military actions."  It said "it is an honor theme."  Thats very specific, nevertheless the "style" of the text.

More to the point it also calles it the "the protectors of the temples" which is very much not the "attackers of the temples".

I see the theme being very standard to our builds, defensive honor decks that have range attacks.  I kind of hope we get Shiro Daidoji back.  I loved that stronghold.
