Back in my day we played Yasuyo basic and we LIKED IT. I'm liking the beefy(ish) duelists.

Back in the day you could buy 3 Yasuyo basic and gain 12 honor in Dynasty alone. THAT'S why we liked it.

this seems ok, but I feel the novelty will wear off much like tadanori

For those people who think buying him turn one to maybe sleaze a province turn two will learn very quickly that this is a short sighted plan, as we cant maintain a blitz much like other clans.

Couldn't. We couldn't maintain a blitz. The economy is fairly strait forward. T1 this guy. T2 attack with this guy and either One instance or Spirit of Knowledge. Plan works fine with other people who are 8G 4F/4C, just not with Calvary. Just spend the second round buying a bunch of gold and you should be safe from everything but a counter blitz. Use the pre-established blitz tools (reinforce the line, Generosity, Daikoku's guidance) and it balances out. The great thing is, unlike Unicorn Blitz, if this fails all we loose is a single guy and maybe a fate card depending on what you pulled instead of a unit stack.

I'm not saying it will be easy. Blitzing willie nillie is sure to do you in. But with practice, I think this has a real shot.

Even without the blitz, no reason this guy cant sleaze a province t3 and leave you with enough resources to defend.
