Here's one for our newest member of the Rules Team - Obviously it's a previewed card, subject to change, but as it reads at the moment, it seems to give each Mantis Clan Personality the ability to get out of dodge once per battle, rather than what I suspect should be giving the Mantis Clan Player the ability to once per battle, moving one guy home.

I assume it is the latter, but I figured it best to get a handle on this now.

Hey Benny, with this guy... is the once per battle tag tied to each person (as quantified by "him") or is it tied to once per battlefield?

The way I read it is that basically each personality has the trigger: Once per battle, after I shoot, you may move me home. Otherwise, would the trait be worded: Once per battle, after a ranged attack resolves that your Mantis Clan Personality performed: Move him home.

I think this card is deceptively scary if the sensei can basically hit all of your people with his trait.

Okay, apparently the site isn't going to let me change my post to include important words like "may." Just putting it out there that I understand the importance of that little word and how it changes the context of his trait... still doesn't change the matter of if his trait applies once to the battlefield or once to each person involved in the current battlefield.

Remember that traits are not abilities and you guys should be able to figure this out without an unofficial official clarification.

From what I see is that he allows each person to move home once per battle after he pews something, just by the placement of the "Once per battle" statement. That is just me, though, I am trying to figure out if this guy is really as good as he looks... or if he is just meh... Isas.

Had the "once per battle" clause been placed before the colon, then the trait would only be triggered once per battle (the first time a Mantis Clan Personality performed a Ranged Attack each battle). By placing that clause after the colon, it instead signifies that the effect of the triggered trait is limited to once per battle.

The trait does not differentiate between Mantis Clan Personalities. Clauses such as "once per battle per Performer" are used to track limited uses among multiple Personalities.

That's pretty much what I figured, but just wanted a little clarity before proclaiming this is how it works. And it is pretty much that way for the reasons I outlined... the placement of the "Once per battle" clause specifically where it is in the trait.
