Most Likely going, I have crane scout ready to go however may build another deck to play with at this kotei. I recieved a harsh yet enlightening curbstomp session involving spider, scorp, and dragon kensai that really made me question my beloved beliefs in the iron crane. That and im new so play mistakes :D. Wish me luck.

Tournament was won by the Crab. Sean Skaggs was closist crane (T4), and was reported to be using Winner's style of deck 8)

Not style, I didn't even have enough time to fishbowl the deck before I went into the first round. It was exactly the deck he's got posted. I'll be posting my report this afternoon/tonight. And it's Sean Skaggs.

Congrats bro!

You faired a lot better with the deck than I did this weekend.
Looking forward to the report!

Okay, so before I get down to the report itself I want to give a little incite into my using the Yoshi Deck. When me and my broham Ray pulled into the train station in Austin, I had a pretty passable Scorpion dishonor deck. I'd play tested it a few times, but not as well as I wanted. We rolled down to the Dragon's Lair and did some free play until midnight, then retired to Monji's house to play a few more rounds. The deck lost every game. Badly. So when people showed up Friday afternoon to do a little more play testing/trading and I was still losing every game, I decided that if I was to lose in the Kotei, I wanted to lose with the Crane. At least I LIKE the Crane. So I turned my mind to putting together a Crane deck. After 4 hours of listening to me curse the Crane and hate on every deck I put together, Monji suggested that I throw together Dave Winner's deck. "Your a good player and that deck has 2 wins on it, you should do well." So at midnight, the night before the Kotei, I threw the deck together, went to Paul's apt, and went to sleep. Morning of the Kotei saw us eating at the Original Pancake House, I suggest this place if your ever in town, and a run to the site. I still needed another Sanctioned Duel. I traded for the 2 I needed for a playset, and sat down for a moment shuffling and thinking about what decks I thought would give me the most grief. After a brief meditation/nap I thought that if I could avoid Lion Rush and Dragon Magistrate/Duelist I should be good. First round pairings where up so on to...

Round one: Lion Blitz (William Steinburger) 0/1
So, sure enough I pulled the deck I was sure was going to pound me to dust. I wasn't disappointed. Turn 2 lost me 2 provinces. I stalled him turn 3, but he got an event that bowed down my last straightened personality (Makoto) and he unopposed my last 2. Still ended the game at 20 honor. We spent the rest of the 45 chatting and having a great time, Steinburger +1 for coolness.

Round 2: Dragon Magistrate/Duelist (Brad Something) 1/1
When I see the first flop, I wanted to slap whatever Kami was laughing at me from the great beyond. Both of the decks that I didn't want to see, and I get them back to back in the first 2 rounds. I went into the game with a will though. In the end we had to dice off. I won the roll on the second throw, we both rolled 18s, and shook hands not liking the time limit. It was a close game. I was set to cross first, but he had a better army, with Shikei in province. Still, Brad is a fun guy, sorry to make off with one of his card (singh remnants) I need to find a way to get it back to him.

Round 3-5 are escaping my memory, and since I was under the impression that taking notes was forbboden I didn't write anything down, I'll worry on these and get them up as soon as I can.

Round 6: Phoenix Honor/Dishonor (??? Need to write stuff down) 5/1
Dude was pretty cool, seeing as He got to watch me steal 20 honor from him. I drew into all of the Rhetoric in the deck and recycled them with both of the Celestial I drew into. I hear 5 Rhetoric wins the honor match up. Still ended up having to go military when he dropped 2 Winds of Dismissal and dishonored Makoto. 3 Bazaar and something like 46 force later I'm crushing his provinces like a Boss.

Round 7: Unicorn Tactician (out of the new box) 6/1
Game ran really smooth for me, I crossed quickly and he had to take 3 provinces with 6 dudes. I blocked with a Yoshitada at each, plus Kazan at 2 and Rengetsu and Dainagon at the 3rd. I held him off for the win.

Top 8 round one: Andrew Vought (Mantis Pokemon) Win in 2
Round 1 was kinda tight, maybe a 4-6 honor difference, but I crossed first and had a full hand to block with. Round 2 was another Rhetoric victory. Without seeing the sparrow or the deer to keep up I crossed well in the lead.

Top 8 round two: John Merholtz (Crab Angry Scouts) Lose in 2
I didn't even mind losing so much, John is so much fun to sit across from it pales the loss to nothing. I had him shaking in round one until a lucky pair of Game of Sadane blew me back down from 41 into the upper 20s. Round 2 reminded me of a accident I saw when a Semi ran over a Civic. I hear 5 Duty of the Crab can stall out a Dueling deck pretty well.

In the end, I got Top Crane, 3rd place overall. I won a theme deck prize for most Artists (4), and walked away feeling kinda like God.

PS: I'll dig through my brain for my round 3-4 info and get it up as soon as I can.
