People always argue as though they're arguing against the point that giving opponent choices is bad. Yes, both choices will be pretty reasonably good for you. No your opponents shouldn't be considered morons, so they will only ever have the "least bad" option at any time. Letting your opponent decide what to do is NEVER preferable if you can avoid it.

I agree, choices are less controllable and thus often weaken a card.

But, when a card gives your opponent options where you would accept either outcome (like this one) or where the choice is secondary to what you want (2 honor from my enemy's mercy) choices merely provide another opportunity for your opponent to make an error - and even non-morons make plenty of those.
