Seek a happy hour. If they have a McCormick and Schmick's, they usually have a 430-6, 630 happy hour. AFAIK they all have this awesome half-pound angus cheeseburger with garlic fries for 2.95.

I like the idea, but I'm pretty sure the Grinder won't be finished until around 7ish (especially since I am expecting day 1 con delays of all sorts). Also, want to separate the dinner from alchohol as many people are not comfortable around it.

Which reminds me, I should probably start a second thread for the "pub meet" if we decide to do one.

The noodles place that is close to Steak and Shake is actually fantastic, although its not quite as 'upscale' as we would probably be looking at (its treated as more fast food, but with restaurant quality).  That place notwithstanding, I personally am fine with whatever that serves burgers, chicken tenders/sandwiches, pasta, or pizza.
Love the noodle place. Logistics will be an issue.

I go to happy hour all the time and rarely drink alcohol. Or were you saying being in the presence of a place with a bar can be an issue?

yeah, a bit more of the second thing. Probably not that many would have an issue with it, but better to er on the side of caution.

That noodle place is straight-up amazing. I went there last year before the L5R Game Night and this is what I ate:

Seriously amazing.

Sadly, it's not a very big place. Think "Wendy's," but serving great noodles. I'd totally recommend it for a lunch while you're there, but not for a clan dinner.

So right now I'm kinda leaning toward Rock Bottom. Its kinda the perfect combination of affordable, close, with plenty of space and decent food. Its so reliable, in fact, that it hosts multiple clan dinners each year. In that regard, its kinda the "generic safe bet", but its on the top of the list unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Could always have the drinkers on one side, the teetotalers on the other, and non-drinking non-abstainers in the middle!

Why? Do the teetotalers find the drinkers offensive?

Just throwing in my 2 cents but, I think we should make a poll of what night people prefer before we solidify a night. Once we have a date, for sure, we can make a thread or a new poll for location.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Thursday night is our only option.

Rock Bottom is one of the best options for sure.

A poll would be nice, however it looks like Thursday may be our only choice. Got this email today (like, an hour ago or so)

Is the Big Game night a must see? I was more enticed by the rpg thing, although I haven't been to Gencon since they started doing the big game night.

EDIT: It just seemed an rpg event that can effect storyline seemed more 'can't miss' to me, am I missing something?
